Updating plugins via Magento Connect Manager can often lead to (delete as appropriate) anger / bemusement / tears / relief. So it wasn’t a great surprise that I hit an error message when trying to update a Payment Gateway module for a neglected v1.5 Magento website.
Couldn’t resolve host ‘magento-community’
The fix, thankfully is a simple one and a result of the switch from Magento Connect Manager v1.0 to v2.0. The update has caused changes to the installation key prefix.
Magento Connect Manager v1.0 Example
magento-community/Paymentsense_Paymentsensegateway-1.11.2
Magento Connect Manager v2.0 Example
http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community/Paymentsense_Paymentsensegateway-1.11.2
So in this example;
magento-community/
has now become;
http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community/
So what’s the big fuss with V2.0?
V2.0 mostly support for dependencies, which provides better package management, with alerts and less chance of installing conflicting plugins.
Im still having no joy with this.
Tried both ways but if I use the 2.0 variation I get a different error:
community/Helios_Hssocialmedia: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure
Very Frustrating
thank you, brilliant! worked for me
Fantastic !!! It worked for me trying to install a French language pack, (and it was so easy) … Thank you
